Involve Van Panchayats to control forest fires: Swami Kamalanand

Former bureaucrat Swami Kamalanand has said that the Van Panchayats should be made more active to combat forest fires. He opined that the Van Panchayats should be given appropriate equipment, facilities along with incentive to tackle forest fires.
He was addressing a virtual workshop organized by Swami Ramtirth foundation on the topic of forest fire crisis and its solutions on Monday. Swami Kamalanand said that the expansion of mixed forests is very important to protect the environment as these forests are capable of controlling fire.
Environmentalist and brand ambassador of the Forest department, Jagat Singh Jangli said that by changing the biodiversity of the forests, we will be able to stop the fire. He said that there is a need for open debate on the good and bad effects of the Pine trees. The NSS coordinator of Maa Vaishno Devi University, Katra, Rajiv Kumar described biodiversity conservation as the need of the hour. Young environmentalists Dev Raghvendra and Ayush Verma described forest fires as a serious threat to humans and the environment.
