Irani appreciates U’khand women’s strengths

Union minister Smriti Irani appreciated the women of Uttarakhand while reviewing the progress of women empowerment and child development in Varanasi. She noted that the Childline facility is being operated in coordination with lost and found portal and the police helpline.
The Government of India had invited officials, representatives of civil society organisations and beneficiaries of central government schemes from Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttar Pradesh to Varanasi. The Uttarakhand delegation headed by secretary HC Semwal participated in the meeting on Monday. Among from civil society organisations from the State, Sanguine Society representative informed about works done for girl child education and Panchayat capacity building. Miraki Foundation representative informed that through the guardian guidance programme, it is providing inputs for Anganwadi centres regarding pre-school, monitoring and capacity building.
Housewife Menaka Chauhan from Salempur village in Haridwar district informed the Union minister that she had benefitted from Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana scheme and Anganwadi take home ration while her son Anand had benefitted from the Central governments vaccination and child development schemes. Similarly, Kamalpreet Kaur spoke about the change in her life due to Mudra Loan. Kavita Chaturvedi from Janaki Devi Education Welfare Society, Dehradun informed about the benefit of the start-up scheme and the progress achieved after Covid-19. Responding to the views from Uttarakhand, Irani appreciated the strength of Uttarakhand’s women.
