Woman in critical condition after assault, police trying to nab the absconding accused
A woman is in a critical condition after being assaulted repeatedly with an iron rod by her alleged paramour here on Saturday night. The incident took place in the SIIDCUL police station area. While the injured woman is in a critical condition, the main accused has been absconding since the incident.
According to sources, Renu Mishra (30), who hails from a village in Shahjahanpur district in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh works in a factory at SIIDCUL in Haridwar. The accused Mridul Kumar who also hails from the same district works in the same factory. The woman is reported to be married and has three children. She and Kumar live in separate rented accommodations in the SIIDCUL area here. The woman’s husband is also employed in a factory. According to the police, the victim and the main accused were in a relationship. It is stated that on Saturday night the two had an argument over some issue. Losing his temper, the accused repeatedly hit the woman with an iron rod which caused grievous injuries and bleeding.
The SIIDCUL police station in-charge Pramod Kumar Uniyal informed that the woman was not picking up the phone calls of the accused for a few days. It is believed that the man was angry because of this reason which resulted in the argument and the assault. Efforts are underway to nab the main accused, said Uniyal.
