In a surprise choice, the BJP picked a first-time MLA Bhajan Lal Sharma as Rajasthan’s new chief minister, ending speculation that went on for days following its victory in the assembly poll. The 56-year-old Sharma who hails from Bharatpur district has been elected from Sanganer constituency with a huge margin of over 48,000 votes. There will be two deputy chief ministers-Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa while Vasudev Devnani will be the Speaker of the state assembly, said BJP veteran Rajnath Singh who was present as the leader of the three-member observer team.
