A team from the first battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was flagged off to summit the Balbala peak. ITBP DIG Aparn Kumar flagged off the expedition from here on Friday.
The 46-member expedition team was flagged off at a function held at the ITBP camp in Sunil. The DIG said that last year the ITBP had successfully climbed Gangotri II after which now they are aiming to climb the Balbala peak. The peak is located in the high altitude region along the border with the Tibetan region.
