The Char Dham Yatra is set to begin on April 30 with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples, followed by Kedarnath on May 2 and Badrinath on May 4. With about a fortnight left for the start of the Yatra, the department is preparing to complete its tasks on time.
Informing about the preparation, the secretary (Administration), Satendra Kumar Gupta said that efforts regarding the Yatra preparations have been ongoing for many days and directions had been issued earlier to the officials concerned. Currently, a monitoring and analysis process of the water structures along the Yatra route is in progress. He stated that the evaluation of these water structures began in March and is still continuing.
He said that monitoring of the water structures began in March and is still underway. Currently, various water structures have been established along the Yatra circuit including locations such as Rishikesh, Haridwar, Chamoli and Rudrapur. He said that, as in the last year, a total of 207 Tank Tank-type stand Post (TTSP) water structures have been set up along the Yatra route, of which 21 are currently non-functional due to unavoidable damage. Additionally, 367 Pillar-Type Stand Posts (PTSP), 57 water ATMs and 34 water purifiers have been installed along the route. Out of these, 82 PTSPs, eight water ATMs and 16 water purifiers are currently not operational. He said that repairs for the non-functional water structures are in progress.
He stated that plans were made to activate the water structures before the week of the Char Dham Yatra, ensuring that early checks on their operation would not cause any issues for the pilgrims along the route.
Gupat also said that instructions had been given to the relevant officials to activate the control room established for both the Char Dham Yatra and the summer season. Additionally, 72 tankers have been readied for emergency use during the Char Dham Yatra. He assured that water supply is secured for approximately 138 toilets along the Yatra route.
It will be recalled that monitoring of the water structures began early and of the 207 TTSP water structures set up along the Yatra route, 40 were reported as non-functional earlier.
