Jamrani Dam Project: Construction of 2 tunnels nearly completed

The Kumaon commissioner, Deepak Rawat reviewed the ongoing construction of the Jamrani multipurpose dam project at a meeting held at his camp office in Haldwani on Friday. The dam is being built for multiple purposes, including irrigation, drinking water and power generation. The meeting discussed in detail various points related to the project’s progress, timeliness and quality.
During the review, the general manager of the project, Mahesh Khare informed that the construction of two tunnels under the project has been completed by approximately 85 per cent. Additionally, work has begun on the construction of two coffer dams to divert river water, he said.
He stated that the tunnel construction and artificial dam construction would be completed by June 2026 after which the river water would be diverted through the tunnels during the upcoming monsoon season. Thereafter, the construction of the permanent dam would be expedited, he added.
Khare informed that the target has been set to complete all construction work of the project by June 2029.
The meeting also reviewed canal construction work under the project. The KU was informed that construction of Haripur Feeder and Pahwa Feeder is currently underway.
