The BJP MLA from Lohaghat, Puran Singh Phartiyal again put his own government at dock in the assembly on Monday when he said that it is unfortunate that Salt MLA, Surendra Singh Jeena was not accorded a funeral with state honours. He said that Jeena was tested negative for the Covid-19 just before his death so a normal cremation of him was done. Phartiyal said that Jeena being a sitting MLA had the right of a funeral with state honours but he was not given the funeral he deserved.
It is pertinent to mention here that the BJP MLA had brought a motion under rule 310 which includes voting after discussion on the issue of the alleged corruption is the award of contract in the Tanakpur-Jauljibi road project in his area. The notice created discomfiture for the state government as it is rare for a ruling party MLA to give such a notice. The party also issued a show cause notice to him after it.
