Jhanda Mela to conclude today in Doon

The historic Jhanda Mela will conclude on April 6, the chief manager of the Jhanda Mela Committee, Madhusudan Semwal said. Notably, this year, the event began in Dehradun on March 19 . Commenting about the conclusion of the Mela, Semwal said that the fair will conclude peacefully and successfully on April 6.
He said that approximately 123 shops were set up for this year’s event. Additionally, the Mela witnessed a notable attendance, with an average of five lakh devotees participating. As the conclusion of the Mela approaches, some shop owners have started to dismantle their stalls, beginning on Saturday evening. He said that on April 6, the Mela shops will partially close, but the event itself will officially end on that same day. Following this, the stall owners will fully dismantle their shops within a week. He also said that, after the conclusion in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), sanitation work would be carried out at the site where the Mela took place.
He said that security measures were fully implemented during the Mela. Throughout the event, police authorities maintained a presence within the mela grounds. A police post was also established on-site to prevent any theft or disturbances that could inconvenience attendees.
It will be recalled that earlier Semwal informed that they have installed 42 CCTV cameras to improve security. In addition to this, fire prevention equipment has been installed as well. To accommodate the devotees, the committee has also arranged lodging facilities, which include the establishment of four new Sangat Bhawans for a safe and comfortable stay this year. Additionally, several Dharamshalas across the city were also designated for the use of devotees.
