Joint efforts of Govt & people vital for clean Ganga- Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and his Uttarakhand counterpart Pushkar Singh Dhami released the Sparsh Ganga song and narrative poem “Main Ganga Bol Rahi” both composed by Haridwar MP and former chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ at Rishikul college in Haridwar on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Aditynath said that by undertaking the Sparsh Ganga campaign, Nishank had conducted a widespread public awareness campaign for the cleanliness and free flow of the Ganga river. Commendable work has been done for this purpose through Namami Gange programme under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Social organisations and the people will also have to come forward with the government to ensure the cleanliness and free flow of the Ganga and its tributaries, he said, while exhorting all to connect with the Sparsh Ganga campaign.
Dhami said that Nishank had started Sparsh Ganga in 2009. He has done commendable work for conservation of the Ganga and the environment. The CM further said that commendable works have been done in Uttarakhand under Namami Gange programme. He also stressed on the importance of consistent efforts by both the government and society for ensuring the cleanliness and free flow of the Ganga.
Speaking on the occasion, Nishank said that Sparsh Ganga will be undertaken consistently. “We will send a clean Ganga from Uttarakhand to Uttar Pradesh. The Ganga is our mother and lifeline,” he said.
Mahamandaleshwar Avadheshanand Giri, BJP State president and Haridwar MLA Madan Kaushik, MLA Adesh Chauhan, Sparsh Ganga coordinator Arushi Nishank and others were also present on the occasion.
