Ahead of the Sri Anna Mahotsav to be held in Uttarakhand from May 13 to 16, the State agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi flagged off 11 Sri Anna Krishak raths from his camp office at Hatibarkala. These raths while going around the city will raise public awareness about this festival. As the United Nations has declared 2023 as International Millet Year, programmes are being organised across the country to create awareness about the health benefits of consuming millets.
Notably, Sri Anna Mahotsav will be organised in the Hatibarkala-based Survey of India from May 13 to 16. It will be attended by the Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar and the Union minister of state for agriculture Kailash Choudhary among others.
Joshi further said that this year has been declared as the International Millet Year thanks to the efforts of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The State government led by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been consistently trying to boost the production and consumption of millets in Uttarakhand, Joshi said.
