Joshi takes up issue of pay disparity in Armed forces with Rajnath Singh

Soldier Welfare minister of Uttarakhand Ganesh Joshi met the Defence minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Saturday. In the meeting Joshi took up the issue of salary disparity in different ranks in the Indian army. Joshi requested that the salary multiplication factor of the basic pay as mentioned in the 7th pay commission form Jawans to the Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO) should be revised. He informed the Union minister that in the 7th pay commission a multiplication factor of 2.57 is used for salary calculation of the armed forces personnel below the officer ranks. Joshi said that for Lieutenant, Captain, Major and Lt Colonel a factor of 2.62 is used and for the ranks above lieitenant colonel a multiplication factor of 2.72 is used. Joshi said that the gap in the salaries of Jawans and officers in the army has increased due to less multiplication factor of Jawans and JCOs. He requested Singh to examine the issue and take necessary corrective measures.
He also invited the Union minister to visit Uttarakhand. Joshi presented a kit of organic products of Uttarakhand, a silk shawl and sapling of Tulsi to Singh.
