Former external affairs minister K Natwar Singh breathed his last at a private hospital in Gurugram after a protracted spell of illness at the age of 93. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death, saying that his contribution to the world of diplomacy and foreign policy was immense. “He was also known for his intellect as well as prolific writing,” he wrote in his post on X.
Singh, a career diplomat, was born in 1931 in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan. He had written several books on multiple themes but mainly on the nuanced subtlety of foreign policy. In recognition of his service to the nation as a diplomat and the foreign minister, he was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1984.
