In latest news from Uttarakhand, the village pradhan of Gram Panchayat Kakod under Okhalkanda block of Nainital district Dikar Singh Mewari is now in Delhi to attend the Republic Day celebration as a guest of honour. Prasar Bharati, New Delhi invited Mewari on the recommendation of the Prime Minister’s Office. Some selected people from different States who have done excellent social works have been invited to the commemorative function. Mewari adopted and cured six Tuberculosis patients. PM Narendra Modi warmly appreciated the social work done by him in his 102nd Mann Ki Baat monthly radio programme.
He is known for his zeal to provide information about the public welfare schemes rolled out by the Centre and State government to the people living in the remote mountainous villages. Also, he helps them derive benefits from such welfare schemes. The villagers look happy with the invitation.
