The State army welfare minister Ganesh Joshi and the State BJP president Mahendra Bhatt showered flowers on the water collected from 21 holy rivers when it reached the Clock Tower in Dehradun stored in a kalash for the Amar Jawan Jyoti at the Sainya Dham.
Speaking on the occasion, Joshi said that consecrated water would be offered at the foundation stone of the main pillar of Amar Jawan Jyoti. He further said that the Sainya Dham is being constructed on the basis of studies made on several monuments located across the country.
He further said that the temples dedicated to the two legendary soldiers who are being worshiped by the members of the Indian Army- Baba Harbhajan Singh and Baba Jaswant Singh- are also being built within the Sainya Dham premises.
Notably, the main entrance of the Sainya Dham is set to be named after the country’s first CDS late General Bipin Rawat.
Joshi expressed the confidence that tourists will visit Sainya Dham in large numbers. “This will be a kind of pilgrimage in the same way visiting the Char Dhams is pilgrimage,” he said.
Earlier, public representatives of various districts had flagged off the Kalash Yatra from Dehradun. It is learnt that 11 Brahmin priests, involved in the Kalash Yatra, reached Dehradun with the consecrated water while chanting mantras.
It is pertinent to mention that the defence minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone of the Sainya Dham in Dehradun in 2021 that is meant to pay tribute to the legion of army personnel hailing from Uttarakhand who had made the supreme sacrifice with their lives ever since World War I. The army memorial is being built at the estimated cost of Rs 63 crore, to be stretched across 50 bighas of land.
Joshi had earlier announced that Sainya Dham would be inaugurated in October or November this year.
