Kandwal asks SSP to investigate Raipur rape case

The chairwoman of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW), Kusum Kandwal has asked the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh to investigate the alleged rape case in the Raipur area of Dehradun. Kandwal said this after visiting the Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital to meet the rape victim. Kandwal claimed took action after learning about the case.

She visited the hospital and met with the 19-year-old alleged rape victim, gathered information from her and enquired about her health with the doctors. She also spoke with the victim’s family members and received an update on the alleged victim’s health from the treating doctors. The doctors confirmed that the victim’s health is stable, she added.

Additionally, Kandwal informed that considering this she also communicated with Singh over the phone and called for a thorough investigation. Kandwal emphasised that strict action should be taken against anyone found guilty in the investigation of the incident.
