Kandwal emphasises importance of planting trees

The chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW), Kusum Kandwal emphasised the importance of planting trees for environmental protection and providing clean air. She said this during the forest tree plantation and national clean air programme organised for the occasion of Harela in Rishikesh.
Speaking at the event, Kandwal highlighted the significance of not only planting new trees but also preserving old ones. She said that the Chipko movement led by Gaura Devi is an example which all should follow. Kandwal extended her wishes for Harela, the folk festival of Uttarakhand, symbolising greenery, happiness and prosperity. She urged everyone to pledge to continue the tradition of nature conservation and maintain greenery on this occasion. She emphasised the importance of collective efforts in conserving the environment and acknowledged the initiatives taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for nature conservation. Kandwal urged enthusiastic participation in these efforts.
