Kathgodam, which is deemed to be the most beautiful railway station of the State, will be upgraded and expanded under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 14.78 crore. Notably, Kathgodam is the last frontier station of Bareilly- Lalkuan railway section of North Eastern Railway Izzatnagar Division.
It is learnt from the railway officials that the floor of the entrance will be raised up to the level of the platform while the brick type tiles installed on the facade of the station building will be extended to the entire front part of the building. Besides, as part of the station up-gradation project, the office of the chief health inspector will be shifted to another place and there would be separate cloakroom and parcel room. Dormitory, women waiting room and arrival-departure lounge will be embellished with interior designing. Further, the passenger waiting room will see expansion with the inclusion of new rooms.
The office that caters to the lighting of the station premises will be shifted to another place and the vacant space will house a toilet to be adorned with all modern facilities and currently exiting toilets in the station will be merged in it. While the platform canopy will be enhanced with a wooden texture the seating arrangements will be equipped with granite stones. A false ceiling will be installed under the platform shed while the walls of the platform will be painted green. Additionally, there will be stainless steel/modular benches and the entrance space of the station will be beautified with colourful murals. As part of revamping Kathgodam station, it will be equipped with high-tech lighting system with installation of LEDs. Besides, flood lights will be installed.
The railway officials posted at the station said that with the implementation of this revamp project, the tourists/passengers who will enter Kumaon through this station will have a pleasant experience in the form of enjoying modern passenger amenities.
