KC Rawat directs actions against environment polluters

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat directed the senior officers concerned to take stern actions against those who harm environment by flouting the norms firmed up by the National Green Tribunal. He convened a meeting on this matter at his camp office.
In particular, he mentioned those who fell trees, dig land and build homestays or other constructions in mountains in violation of the NGT rules and said they must be identified and brought to book. Besides, Rawat told the officers to stop the hotels/eateries from dumping garbage and releasing sewage into water bodies like rivers, rivulets and canals.
He directed the officers to prepare a list of all such persons who are polluting environment by their unlawful acts so that legal actions can be taken against them.
