In latest news from Uttarakhand, as announced earlier, the portals of the revered Kedarnath shrine opened to the devotees ritualistically in presence of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and over 10,000 devotees on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. Flowers were showered from choppers and the Grenadiers regiment of the army played band when the portals opened. Bhandaras or free community kitchens were put up at several places where thousands of devotees had food.
Aside from the CM, the district magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar and the head of the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee Ajendra Ajay were present during the portal opening ceremony.
The weather was clear though strong, cold wind was blowing from the snowy mountains nearby, said pilgrims.
