The Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that if elected to office in the 2022 Assembly elections, the AAP government will provide free electricity up to 300 units and free electricity to farmers in Uttarakhand. He also announced that old electricity bills will be waived off and that work will be done to provide 24 hour power across the State. Kejriwal said this while addressing the media after his arrival in Dehradun on Sunday.
His first announced that AAP will provide free electricity up to 300 units across Uttarakhand if the party comes into power here. He promised in his second announcement that his party will waive off old electricity bills. He said that during the visits of his party members across the State, it was revealed that many people are receiving inaccurate electricity bills due to which they have to make rounds of several officers to correct the bill amount. “If a consumer receives a bill of Rs 60,000 and the officials concerned are approached regarding the issue, he or she is asked to pay Rs 10,000 to waive off the remaining bill amount,” stated Kejriwal.
Making his third announcement, Kejriwal stated that people will get electricity for 24 hours every day without any power cuts. However, he also added that it will take three to four years to fulfil this promise. “The entire system related to electricity will be changed across Uttarakhand like changing the wires, transformers among others to provide 24 hours electricity. It will take about three years to fulfil this promise but it will surely be done,” said the Delhi CM. As his fourth and last announcement, he said that his party will also provide free electricity to all the farmers across the State.
Kejriwal said that these four announcements are not just mere election campaign pledges like the other political parties make and keep unfulfilled for years. These are not just four unchecked promises but the four guarantees which will be implemented soon after AAP comes to power in Uttarakhand except for the third one as it will take about four years to make it happen, stated Kejriwal.
Meanwhile, targeting the two main political parties in Uttarakhand, Kejriwal said that both the parties have looted the State. According to him, Uttarakhand is rich in various resources like flora and fauna, mountains, rivers and hardworking people but BJP and Congress have ruined the state in the last 20 years. “Both parties have maintained coordination in ruling and looting the state since the beginning. The current government here does not have a credible chief minister and the opposition does not have a leader here,” said Kejriwal. He said that generally, opposition parties say that the CM is not competent but BJP has shown it again and again that it does not have a capable candidate for the CM position. “It is probably the first time in the history of independent India when the ruling party is proposing itself that its CM is useless,” said Kejriwal. He also disclosed in the press conference that he will visit Uttarakhand in the coming months too for making more such announcements.
