Considering the recent visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat to Kedarnath as a political campaign for the 2022 assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal is also likely to join the race to woo Hindu voters in Uttarakhand by visiting Badrinath. Though the party is yet to confirm his visit, sources informed that he is scheduled to visit the state by the next week as the doors to Badrinath will be closed on November 20.
Kejriwal, who is trying to expand AAP’s political space with a blend of religion and politics here, had already played the Hindu card during his second visit with the declaration of making Uttarakhand a spiritual capital for Hindus if the party wins the assembly election. Due to this, his visit to Badrinath is also being seen as an extension of this effort.
Since there is an overwhelming majority of Hindu voters in the state, the two prominent parties BJP and Congress in the state have already started working to attract them. When Modi was giving his speech in Kedarnath on his recent visit, the Congress leaders were visiting Shiva temples and pouring water on Shivlings across the state on the same day. All these attempts were evidently being made to attract the attention of every potential Hindu voter in the state. Now the national convener of AAP is also about to join this race to woo voters ahead of the elections on his fourth visit to the state. The AAP leaders in Dehradun informed that Kejriwal is also expected to make big announcements as a part of the election campaign like his past three visits to the state.
