Kenyan woman arrested with cocaine in Doon

The police arrested a Kenyan citizen and a member of the notorious Cobra gang with 31 grammes of cocaine worth over Rs 21 lakh. The woman had come to Dehradun from Delhi on Saturday to smuggle cocaine to some foreigners who had allegedly planned to throw a party in a restaurant on Mussoorie Road. She was on her way to supply the drug when the police nabbed her, the Dehradun superintendent of police Pramod Kumar said. In a Press conference here on Sunday, he said that the accused is a citizen of Kenya who came to the country on a tourist visa in 2018. The police are consistently acting against drug smuggling across the district and conducting regular checkings. During a similar checking on Mussoorie Road late on Saturday, the police arrested a Kenyan woman from near a restaurant with cocaine and Rs 16,500 cash. The police have registered a case against her under sections 8, 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. The accused has been identified as Regina Waweru Njeri (35) who was currently residing in Faridabad, Haryana.

 The SP said that the accused told the police that she came to Delhi in 2018 on a tourist visa when she came in contact with the Cobra gang. She soon started working for them and supplying cocaine from Delhi to her agents and peddlers in different parts of the country as per the demand. “According to her, she used to supply cocaine and similar hard drugs to college students of big educational institutions and big parties. She told us that she used to take a commission for each delivery separately. She was on her way to supply cocaine for a party in a restaurant in Mussoorie Road but the police arrested her,” he said. The SP said that the police have recently arrested several members of the Cobra gang who were smuggling hard drugs to students and in high profile parties. The investigation is ongoing and the police are gathering evidence. The police will also investigate the people who had allegedly ordered the cocaine from the accused and take further action accordingly, he added.
