PNS | DEHRADUN
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the incidents of Khanpur and Rishikesh have exposed the pathetic law and order situation prevailing in the State. Interacting with the mediapersons at the headquarters of the State Congress on Monday, he said that the people of Uttarakhand will not tolerate such incidents. He said that in Khanpur both the local MLA and former MLA engaged in open hooliganism. Mahara said that a high voltage drama between the two leaders was going on the social media for the last four days and the two were challenging one another like ruffians but the police and administration paid no heed. He alleged that both the Khanpur MLA and the former MLA, who is a member of BJP, are close to the chief minister of the State.
Mahara said that in Rishikesh, the supporters of the BJP mayoral candidate used expletives against the native Pahadis of the State during the victory rally on Sunday. Strongly condemning such elements, the PCC president said that the people of the State were engaged in a long struggle and gave many sacrifices in the statehood movement. He said that forgetting the sacrifice of the people those having affiliation with BJP are demeaning the locals which condemnable and strict action should be taken against them.
Mahara informed that the Congress will hold a State-wide protest on the Khanpur and Rishikesh incident on Tuesday and burn effigies of the State government on all district headquarters.
