Khatima, Mussoorie & Rampur Tiraha incidents black chapters in U’khand’s history: CM

 Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the State government is committed to fulfill the dreams of the martyrs of the statehood agitation.  He said that the State government has implemented the decision of granting 10 per cent horizontal reservations to the statehood activists and their dependents. The government is also providing pensions to the Statehood activists. The CM was addressing a programme after paying homage to the martyrs of statehood movement on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Mussoorie firing incident on Monday. The CM said that Khatima( September 1),  Mussoorie (September 2) and Rampur Tiraha ( October 2) incidents are black chapters in the history of the State. 

He said that no one can ever forget the supreme sacrifice of the statehood martyrs. The CM said that Uttarakhand has achieved first rank in the country on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) released by the NITI Aayog.  He added that special attention is also being paid to the environment along with development in the State.

The CM said that women played a major role in the statehood movement and the State government has decided to give 30 percent reservation to women in government jobs. The State has implemented a stringent anti-copying law and has sent more than 100 people associated with the copying mafia behind the bars. Apart from this, strict laws have been brought to stop forced religious conversions in the state and anti-riot law has also been implemented in the state. In an attempt to stop demography change in the state, the government has taken action against land jihad.

The CM claimed that the State government has given appointments to more than 16,000 youngsters in different departments in the last three years. He added that in the recently released result of the State PCS examination most of the selected candidates are from Uttarakhand.

The CM announced that a museum will be built in memory of the martyrs at the martyr’s memorial in Mussoorie.

Remembering the Mussoorie firing incident, the cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi said police started firing on the statehood agitators without any reason and prior warning. 

 In the firing Balbir Singh Negi, Dhanpat Singh, Rai Singh Bangari, Madan Mohan Mamagai, Belmati Chauhan and Hansa Dhanai were martyred. The president of Uttarakhand BJP Mahendra Bhatt and others were present on the occasion.
