Sports minister Rekha Arya said that players who perform well and show efficiency at the Khel Mahakumbh at the State level will benefit from four per cent horizontal reservation that is being offered to athletes. She said this during the inauguration of the district-level Khel Mahakumbh here on Tuesday. Arya emphasised the government’s commitment to promoting every player in the state by providing world-class facilities.
She noted that new and upgraded sports grounds are being built, better training opportunities are being offered and players are being given priority in government job placements. She further stated that players who will perform excellently at the state level will also be linked to the four per cent horizontal reservation for players. A proposal for this initiative has been prepared and will be implemented soon, she said.
Arya also inspected venues being prepared for the upcoming 38th National Games at the Maharana Pratap Sports College campus. During her visit, she reviewed the shooting range, multipurpose sports hall, basketball court and the horse riding track. She instructed officials to complete the remaining work as soon as possible and emphasised the need to make all these facilities best in class.
