Kher appreciates potential for filming in Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand Film Development Council (UFDC) chief executive officer and director general of Information, Banshidhar Tiwari met noted actor Anupam Kher on Sunday. Kher is touring various parts of Uttarakhand these days to scout for locations for a new movie. Tiwari met him at a proposed shooting location in the Indiranagar area of Dehradun. Kher reached Dehradun from Lansdowne where he scouted for locations and also shared clips and his observations on social media.

Kher said that the shooting of the new film is proposed to start in April and that it is planned that more than 90 per cent of the shooting will be done in Uttarakhand. His new film is based on an army background for which he has scouted Lansdowne and nearby locations. He appreciated the film conducive atmosphere in Uttarakhand while adding that the State is swiftly becoming a popular filming destination. He expressed hope that the State will emerge as the best shooting destination in the future.

The UFDC CEO informed the thespian about the film policy of Uttarakhand. He said that special provision has been made in the proposed film policy for encouraging new filming locations. In addition to this, there is also provision for special subsidy in case the filmmaker hires artistes and crew members of Uttarakhand. Tiwari informed that a 360 degree ecosystem is being developed in the State for film production which will provide special opportunities for filmmakers from outside the State and from Uttarakhand along with local artistes and technicians. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has issued instructions to work strongly on three-Ts- talent, technology and training. The new film policy is being brought in line with the chief minister’s vision and this policy has various aspects which are in line with the modern requirements for cinema and content creation. Place is also being accorded to web series, documentaries and short films in the new policy, Tiwari added.
