Killer nabbed within a day of strangulating property dealer

Dehradun police apprehended a man who allegedly murdered a property dealer in the city within 24 hours of the crime being committed. According to the polie, the Patelnagar police was informed on Friday about a man dying in suspicious circumstances in a rented accommodation. The senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh and other police officers reached the scene of the crime. Prima facie, the person found dead appeared to have been strangulated. The victim was identified as Manjesh Kumar (42), a resident of Haridwar.

Questioning the owner of the house revealed that a room on the upper floor was rented out to Sachin Kumar for the past two months and that a friend of Kumar was staying there. On the night of November 29, Sachin and his friend Arjun were not in the rented room and they were not available on the phone. The police contacted the family members of the deceased and after preliminary enquiry, it was ascertained that the deceased was a property dealer and was dealing with Arjun for quite some time. Based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s brother against Sachin and Arjun the police lodged a case.

The police used surveillance and other means to track the suspects. The police got to know that  after the crime the two suspects escaped from the building on seeing the police. The duo jumped to escape which caused an injury on Sachin’s foot.He went to a hospital in Bhagwanpur for primary treatment and later to Saharanpur. The police further got to know that Sachin was planning to surrending in the court in Dehradun. The police stepped up checking and arrested him at Asharodi. During questioning, he reportedly stated that he and Arjun had strangulated Kumar.
