Kisan Mela commences: Scientists answer  farmers’ questions

A special lecture series was organised for the farmers at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology on the first day of the four-day 119th Kisan Mela  on Friday.  During this, scientists from the veterinary disease department of the university provided detailed information on disease management in animals and resolved the queries of the farmers present. The organisers said that  the scientists made the farmers aware about the identification, prevention and effective management of major diseases occurring in animals and laid emphasis on the need for cleanliness, balanced diet and timely treatment in animal husbandry.
During the programme, various problems of the farmers who came to the fair were also resolved.

Professors from various colleges of the university provided necessary technical information to the farmers by participating in the question-answer session organised on subjects like agronomy, horticulture, vegetable production, coarse grains, mountain agriculture, crop protection and management, flower and fruit production among others.

The farmers who came to the farmers’ fair were also taken on a tour of various research and training centres of the university. During this, the farmers visited the Fisheries Science College, Crop Research Center, Beekeeping, Mushroom Production Unit, Dairy and Poultry Farm.

The vice-chancellor, GBPUAT, Manmohan Singh Chauhan visited various stalls at the farmers’ fair and took stock of the fair’s arrangements. During the visit, he inspected exhibition stalls set up by university colleges, various departments, government and private institutions.
