Based on the rankings released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the Kotdwar Municipal Corporation achieved a leap among 102 Urban Local Bodies in Uttarakhand in the Swachh Survekshan 2024, ranking ninth.
Notably, Kodwar Municipal Corporation has surged agead in 2024-25 Swachh Survekshan rankings, rising from 304th position in 2023 to 232nd position this year. The corporation received a score of 7914 as against 3067 it had scored in 2023. Besides, while this civic body was on the ODF status in 2023 it has achieved improvement being placed this year on ODF+ status. Expressing satisfaction over this improvement in Swachh Survekshan 2024, the municipal commissioner, Kotdwar, P L Shah listed its major achievements. “It has disposed 30065 metric tonnes of legacy waste in 2024. Besides, it has set up Waste to Wonder Park.
Further, the civic body had successfully operated RRR (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) Centre,” he said, adding that it had set up construction and demolition landfill. Moreover, to achieve the ODF + status, it has increased the number of public toilets in the town and set up monitoring control room through stationing cameras across the town. He further said that they have a still a long way ahead. “Our efforts to improve ranking will continue in full swing,” Shah added.
