India’s prominent personality Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi who is a renowned environmentalist, green activist and the founder of the Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organization (HESCO) has been conferred with Padma Bhushan by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
Joshi’s name for the honor was announced last year but the felicitation could not happen because of covid pandemic. This year the awards for 2020 and 2021 are being given simultaneously. He has been conferred with this honor for his immense contribution in protecting and conserving the environment and the Himalayas.
He is a famous personality from Uttarakhand who came up with G.E.P ( Gross Environmental Product )- a measure to keep a close eye on the overall health of the environment.
