Krishi Kumbh 2025: Advanced technologies and innovations will raise farmers’ income, says CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that advanced technologies and innovations will help achieve the aim of increasing the income of farmers. He said this while speaking on Friday, the second day of the 17th Agriculture Science Congress being organised by the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) under the aegis of National Academy of Agriculture Sciences (NAAS).

Addressing the gathering, Dhami appreciated the relevance of organising the Agriculture Science Congress. Emphasising upon the relevance of innovations in the field of agriculture, he outlined the government’s schemes in the interests of farmers and said that the Uttarakhand government is committed to the development of the agricultural sector. The State government is executing various schemes in the interest of farmers, so that they can increase their income by adopting modern agricultural techniques.

He called upon agricultural universities and scientists to work together with farmers, so that innovations can be taken to the grassroots level.GBPUAT vice-chancellor Manmohan Singh Chauhan highlighted the achievements of the university and said that efforts are being undertaken to double the income of farmers through innovation and research in the agricultural sector.

He appreciated the State government for banning paddy plantation in summer season due to the negative impact of this practice on ground water level and rising insect infestation. The ban on summer paddy cultivation will not only help in sustaining the ground water level but also reduce environmental pollution. He also informed that scientists from 16 countries including the USA, Australia, Canada, France, UK, Germany, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Thailand, Fiji, Morocco, Zambia, Oman and Nepal are participating in this ‘Krishi Kumbh’. Apart from this, representatives of the industry and progressive farmers are also participating in the event.
