KU delegation meets Bhatt, serves memorandum

In latest news from Uttarakhand, a delegation of Kumaun University Teachers’ Association (KUTA) called on the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar MP Ajay Bhatt and apprised him of the problems the professors have been facing and served him a memorandum, requesting him to resolve them on priority basis by talking to the State government at his level.
KUTA functionaries later said that the professors on completing 10 years of academic service should be provided pay level 15 as per the UGC norms, contract guest teachers in higher education Uttarakhand be provided Rs 57,700 per month as per UGC norms and as per the decision of the High Court, a government order be issued regularising teachers who have worked as contract/guest teachers for 10 years.
They further said that their demands include the summer and winter vacations previously given to the vacation staff of higher education Uttarakhand should be increased to 60 days and 31 days of earned leave should be given to them on the lines of the same given to other State government employees.
The delegation included KUTA president Prof Lalit Tiwari and general secretary Vijay Kumar. Besides, the Nainital MLA Sarita Arya was present.
