KU hosts 2-day workshop on U’khand’s regional languages

A two-day national workshop on the use of synonyms in regional languages of Uttarakhand and creation of literature in them- organised under the joint aegis of the Hindi and other Indian language departments of Kumaun University, Nainital, UCOST and Uttarakhandi Bhasha Nyas (UBHAN)- is concluding on Saturday. The Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat inaugurated the workshop while the director general, UCOST, Prof Durgesh Pant (DG UCOST) joined it virtually.
The secretary, UBHAN, Bihari Lal Jalandhari was the subject promoter while the president, UBHAN Neelambar Pandey was the keynote speaker. Jalandhari threw light on the historical background of Kumaoni and Garhwali languages and Pandey while stressing that Sanskrit is the main basis of Uttarakhand’s regional languages spoke about their preservation and creation of rich and modern literature in them.
