KU hosts lecture on intellectual property rights

In latest news from Uttarakhand, ahead of the National Science Day slated on February 28, the Innovation and Incubation Cell (IIC) of Nainital-based Kumaun University hosted a lecture on Intellectual Property Rights at the initiative of the director of the Directorate of Visiting Professors and the head of the Botany department, Prof Lalit Tiwari through the online medium. Among the dignitaries present were the director, IIC, Prof Ashish Tiwari and Nidhi Verma.

In his address, Prof Tiwari said mind is the mightiest of all the powers human beings have.   “Creativity of the brain helps solve all problems aside from empowering one economically,” he said. Dwelling on the importance of the intellectual property rights, he said that this is a right guaranteed by the Constitution.  “The right with the longest duration is copyright and the duration of patent is 20 years while GI Trademark and Industrial Design last for 10 years,” he added.
