KU hosts seminar on stock market functioning

A three-day seminar on the basic understanding of stock market and investment opportunities was organised in the Commerce department of Kumaun University‘s DSB campus in Nainital. The objective of the event was to connect students with financial literacy, familiarise them with the basic working of the stock market and prepare them as responsible investors.

On the concluding day, the dean of the Commerce Faculty, Prof Atul Joshi said that acquiring a degree is not enough in the present era. “The youth of today should make themselves financially self-reliant.  The seminar has been organised to arouse awareness in them towards investment,” he added. A senior financial trainer associated with SEBI, Ankur Bhatnagar informed the students about the functioning of the stock market, risk management, long-term investment strategies and misconceptions related to investment.

The vice-chancellor, Prof Diwan Singh Rawat lauded the programme, saying that it would help the students gain insight into the stock market investment.
