Anil Kukreti has been elected as the new president of Dehradun Bar Association. He defeated Rajiv Sharma by a margin of 82 votes. For the post of the secretary, Ajay Bisht won by a margin of 161 votes while Vinod Sagar was elected vice president. Lata Rana was chosen as women’s vice president, Kapil Arora joint secretary and Rajeev Rohila was elected treasurer of the association.
Polling was conducted on Thursday and counting began at around 3 PM on Friday in the presence of a large gathering of advocates. Results were declared later in the afternoon.
After the announcement of the results celebrations broke out at the court premises.
With the formation of a new executive body, members said that they expect the leadership to focus on advocates’ welfare, bar administration and issues concerning the judicial system in Dehradun.
