In latest news from Uttarakhand, while the Bade Deepawali was celebrated across Garhwal region on October 31 it is being celebrated in most parts of Kumaon on November 1. This is what warranted the State government to declare public holidays on both these dates. As per the priests conversant with the timing of the tithi, the period of Deepawali which started at 3.52 PM on October 31 will continue till 6.126 PM on November 1. The State government sources said that the public holiday on the occasion of Igas which is celebrated 11 days after the Bade Deepawali celebration will be decided accordingly.
