Kumaon commissioner acts swiftly on e-rickshaw owner’s complaint

The Kumaon commissioner and secretary of the chief minister Deepak Rawat acted swiftly on a complaint made by an e-rickshaw owner Ishwar Prasad and had Rs 10, 000 returned to him while holding public hearing here  on Tuesday.  Prasad, a resident of Teenpani, said he had bought an e-rickshaw for Rs 1, 87,000 from an agency located in Transport Nagar, Haldwani, on May 27, 2024 with a one-year warranty given. The rickshaw had started malfunctioning after six months, he said, adding that during repairing by the agency, duplicate parts had been installed in place of the original parts due to which the rickshaw had started breaking down repeatedly. He further said that he had got it repaired from outside under compulsion with Rs 10,000. He even presented the duplicate parts before the commissioner.

Acting on it, Rawat rang up the agency owner and asked him to return Rs 10,000. Also, the commissioner ordered RTO Sandeep Saini to investigate all e-rickshaw agencies operating in Haldwani.
