Kumaon commissioner directs officials to conduct career counselling

Kumaon commissioner Sushil Kumar has directed the Employment Department to conduct regular career counselling sessions for unemployed youths to provide employment and self-employment opportunities to them. He directed the officials concerned to organise camps at village levels to make the youths of remote areas aware of employment-oriented schemes to benefit the maximum people of the Kumaon division.
The commissioner stated this during the review meeting of various schemes running in the division under district sector, state sector, centrally funded and externally aided along with the divisional nodal officers. He asked the employment officers to increase the number of employment fairs organised by the department to reach the maximum unemployed people under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). He directed them to take all the possible measures to provide youths with employment and self-employment opportunities in the division.
Besides this, Kumar also directed the officials of the horticulture department to work on linking more farmers with horticulture under various schemes as a means of employment. He said that all the selected beneficiaries must be provided with seeds and saplings on time. He also directed the officials concerned to expedite the preparation of the detailed project reports (DPRs) and get the respective approvals on time to complete the works while adding that 100 per cent of the allocated budget must be utilised by the end of this financial year.
