Rakesh Kumar assumed charge as the chairman of the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) on Friday. The commission’s senior member JMS Rana administered the oath of office and secrecy to him. Kumar has been an Uttarakhand cadre Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1992 batch.
During his work as an IAS officer he served as the district magistrate of various districts in Uttar Pradesh and later in Uttarakhand. He also served in various positions in the state government before going on deputation to the centre. He was also the chief adviser of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in India before assuming the charge of the UKPSC chairman.
