Demanding strict punitive action on those responsible for the Covid-19 test scam in Kumbh, the Uttarakhand Congress held a massive protest in Haridwar on Friday.
The Congress party leaders and workers led by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh reached Har ki Paidi on the day and held a symbolic one day fast. Launching an attack on the Uttarakhand government, the PCC president said that a case of murder should be registered on the state government for the Kunbh test scam. Demanding a judicial probe in the scam by a judge of the High Court, the Congress leader said that the Covid 19 test scam is not only an economic offence but also is directly responsible for death of people in the state due to Covid 19. Singh said that the incumbent chief minister and his predecessor have accepted that the scam has occurred and are now pointing towards each other for being responsible for it. He said that the BJP which is a self proclaimed contract holder for Hinduism has committed the sin of patronising a mega scam during Kumbh in Haridwar.
The Mayor of Hardiwar Anita Sharma said that the scam has shamed the Dharam Nagri Haridwar.
The state co in charge Deepika Singh, Vice President Surya Kant Dhasmana, deputy leader of Congress legislature party Karan Mahra, Mahendra Pal, Brahmswaroop Bharamchari, MLAs Qazi Nizamuddin, Adesh Chauhan, Mamta Rakesh, Rajkumar, Former MLA Ranjit Rawat, Mayor of Haridwar Anita Sharma and others attended the protest.
