KU’s Botany professor selected life member of NASI

In latest news from Uttarakhand, an alumnus of the department of Botany, Kumaun University, Nainital Shreekar Pant has been selected as a life member of the National Academy of Sciences India (NASI) in recognition of his outstanding work on Himalayan biodiversity.
Pant’s research has been focused on Himalayan biodiversity assessment, characterisation, conservation, ethnography and people’s participation.
His selection has been done by NASI Allahabad, the oldest of the three prestigious science academies of the country. It has selected 10 researchers from across the country under the Plant and Agricultural Science Biological Science category.
Hailing the selection, the president of Kumaun University Teachers Association, Prof Lalit Tiwari said that the honour he received is not only a personal achievement for Pant but a matter of pride for Kumaun University and Nainital district.
