KU’s golden jubilee: foreign expert lecture hosted

In latest news from Uttarakhand, to mark the golden jubilee year of Kumaun University, an international lecture was organised by the Visiting Professor Directorate and the department of Political Science, DSB campus of the university. Over 150 researchers participated. This is the first time that the university’s DSB campus has hosted foreign expert lecture.   

The renowned academician from Thomson River University, Canada with speciality in international relations and Asian studies Robert R. Hanlon who is presently visiting professor of Kumaun University lectured on Great Power Competition and Indo- Pacific Strategic Environment.  He said that the Indo-Pacific region includes India and China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Oman, Somalia and Australia. Referring to China becoming a global pusher in this strategically important region, he said that competition among nationalities has created new development, adding that as every country’s foreign policy is independent, it is necessary to stress on development of the people rather than engagement in power politics.

Aside from the director, DSB campus Neeta Bora Sharma,  Hridesh Kumar,  Bhumika Prasad, Ruchi Mittal, Pankaj Singh and Mohit Singh Rautela were present among others.
