A special interactive lecture was organised by the History department of Kumaon University’s DSB campus. On this occasion, a retired Colonel Girija Shankar Mungali, an alumnus of the university, was present as the keynote speaker. In his address, he stated that the primary source of inspiration lies within an individual. “But discipline, consistent practice, and clear goals are essential to strengthen it,” he said and exhorted students to develop decision-making skills and to remain committed to their values, even in difficult circumstances. According to him, challenging moments in life truly shape one’s personality. He also emphasised the importance of studying subjects like history from an interdisciplinary perspective.
During the interactive session, students asked questions on topics like career building, research direction, foreign studies and balance in life.

Presiding over the programme, the vice- chancellor Diwan Singh Rawat said that the purpose of education should not be limited to personal success. “Fulfilling one’s responsibilities to society and the nation is also an integral part of it,” he added.
