KU’s NSS unit plants trees on Harela

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Kumaun University, Nainital planted fruit and shade trees in the DSB campus to mark the Harela festival under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke naam’ initiative launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The student union president Utkarsh Bisht and the former student union president Pankaj Bhatt along with other student leaders were involved in the tree plantation programme. Among those present on the occasion were the campus director Prof Neeta Bora Sharma along with Prof Savitri Kaida Jantwal, Prof Vijay Kumar and Prof Lalit Mohan.
On the other hand, to mark the same occasion, over 30 plants of multiple species were planted in the Tanki forest beat of the Municipal Forest Range. Senior forest officers were in the vanguard of the programme. Uttarakhand Purvsainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) employees also participated in the commemorative drive.
