Laksar’s village development officer arrested on graft charge

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the village development officer of Laksar block in Haridwar was arrested by the Vigilance on the charge of acquiring property disproportionate to his known sources of income. Vigilance sources further said that a case has been filed against the officer under the relevant sections of the anti-graft acts.
His interrogation by the sleuths revealed that while his income from known sources from the period of January 1 2007 to December 31 2018 was a little over Rs 1.5 crore his spending during the same period was found to be Rs 6. 12 crore. The discrepancy is more than 300 percent. He was asked to explain this discrepancy but he failed, leading to his arrest, Vigilance sources said.
