In latest news from Uttarakhand, while speaking of the three-member high-level special investigation team (SIT) constituted by the State government to probe forgery of land records and fraudulent land sale deeds, the State finance minister Premchand Aggarwal said that aside from doing case to case probe, the committee has been empowered to recommend filing of FIRs. Notably earlier, the power of the committee was confined to investigation. Now its power has been expanded into taking things forward through recommending FIRs to be filed against those to be found involved in land fraud crimes, the minister said.
