Land, liquor & mining mafia ruling the roost- Pritam

Thursday, 16 December 2021 | PNS | Dehradun

The leader of opposition (LoP) Pritam Singh has claimed that the people of Uttarakhand have made up their mind to throw the BJP out of the power in the state and the Congress party is heading for a landslide victory in the assembly elections of 2022. Addressing the media persons at his Vidhan Sabha office here on Wednesday, Singh said that the people of the state are reeling under price rise and the very high unemployment. He said that the people of Uttarakhand have understood the real character of the BJP government. Launching an attack on the BJP government the LoP said that the land, liquor and mining mafia are ruling the roost in the government. He said that it was the Congress government which imposed the land laws in the state to protect the interests of the local people and the Major General (Retd), B C Khanduri made that law more stringent by lowering the maximum land which outsiders can purchase in the state to 250 sq meters but this BJP government under pressure of the land mafia decimated the land laws.

Similarly he said in order to benefit the liquor mafia the BJP government has allowed sale of liquor from mobile vans. Singh added that the recent incident in which a PRO of CM was removed after a letter written by him had gone viral shows that the mining mafia has penetrated the office of the CM. He said that in the letter the PRO directed the SP of Bageshwar to waive off the penalty on the trucks involved in mining. Singh added that the state government is misleading the people of the state on the employment data. He said that in 2020 the parliamentary affairs minister had informed the house that 10 lakh employment were given by it and in March 2021 the government again informed the house that it provided jobs to seven lakh people. In the winter session again the labour minister informed that seven lakh jobs were provided by it. Singh said that there is no unanimity within the government in employment numbers.

The former minister Dinesh Agarwal said that all the stadiums of the state are in very bad shape. He said that the ministers and the MLAs of BJPs are only focussing on laying the foundation stones of the projects without any approval.
