More than two decades after the completion of Tehri dam, the process of rehabilitating the dam affected people is still going on in the Tehri district. Under the rehabilitation programme, the Tehri dam authorities along with the rehabilitation directorate provided agricultural land and plots to 61 villagers at New Tehri on Friday.
Sixty one eligible villagers affected till RL 835 metres under the dam project at New Tehri were allotted the plots and agriculture land through lottery system in the presence of Director of Agriculture and Residential Plot Rehabilitation and District Collector Eva Ashish Srivastava.
The director of rehabilitation, has allotted the land to the people affected after August 28, 2015, through lottery with videography system in a transparent manner. The affected people were informed about the process before allotment and the the lottery process was initiated after that. Out of 29 eligible farmers in the first shift, 24 were allotted agricultural land while five were allotted only agricultural plots. In the second lot, 32 residential plots were allotted through lottery. Rehabilitation department and THDC officials were also present during the meeting.
